This Post Office is a very busy spot in the centre of town. Offers all the services you would expect from a Post Office although it’s probable that it’s chief counter function is giving out benefits to the various deserving recipients. The mail posted at all the sub- offices and street boxes in the the surrounding area are brought to Ballina Post office daily and transported to the Athlone Sorting Centre, sent on to the main Post Office in the address area that night, resorted into route batches and delivered the next morning into the house of Joe Bloggs or whoever. Which, when you think about it, isn't a bad service. If you were to give someone in Ballina a letter and €1.10 (the price of a stamp) and were to ask them to put that letter into someone’s letterbox in Skibbereen the following morning they would probably tell you….well you know what they would tell you :) So it’s not bad value and I cannot remember any piece of mail that I have ever sent, or any piece of mail that was sent to me, ever going missing during the past thirty years at least. So it’s pretty reliable too.
